Tally and Finger Counting

I found these cards at The Linton Academy.

Here's how Bear and I use them.  We put the numerals upside down on the table and draw a card.  Then we have to find a match for the number from either the hands cards or the tally cards.  For example, let's say we draw a "7", we then have to find either seven fingers or seven tally marks.  We take turns and thus by being a "game" Bear enjoys this activity as she unwittingly learns about tallies and using fingers for counting.  Eventually she'll recognize the quantities with hardly a thought (I hope!).

  1. I totally missed that over there. I'm going to have to go back there and check it out.

Hmmm..... I wonder if anywhere has the sign language numbers.

  3. This is so awesome! I love that there's a connection made with fingers and tally marks! As for being in sync...great minds think alike! ;)

Thanks for joining the blog hop. I just figured out how to do it myself. Apparently, you have to go to edit to add the blog hop feature! :)
