First, we sang this song. (I left out the verse for Pluto.) Bear loved it and we sang it frequently throughout the day. As we sang it, I placed the planet cards I printed from Montessori Mom in order from the sun. I used the sun card from My Montessori Journey for our sun picture. The solar system diagram is from Coloring Castle.
Then bear colored (looking at the planet cards to match colors)...
...cut...
(Bear can't cut circles yet, so I drew the lines to guide her in cutting out the planets. She does cut a perfect straight line.)

...and glued
as baby brother desperately tried to get in on the learning.
The planets Bear colored and cut out are also from Coloring Castle.
Wonderful project! I know we will have to revisit the planets as we only touched upon it when JC was younger. I will bookmark this for reference. Thanks for sharing!

Love it! Short Pants has had a lot of questions about the planets lately and I've been thinking we need to do a solar system lesson soon. I'll definately use yours as our model - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! I am also bookmarking it for the future. You really do great things with Bear.
ReplyDeleteSeriously is your little sweetie a few months younger than my guy? I'm always amazed at what she can do. Thank you for sharing! I always look forward to reading your posts and adding to my idea files.
ReplyDeleteI love the song, but I just can't adjust to Pluto not being a planet :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how you drew the lines for her cutting out. I used to do that for my guys, it helps so much.
