We Play - Blocks and Trains

Here we are building ramps and watching train cars or matchbox cars go zooming down.  J-jo loves to chew our blocks and Bear likes to put the train track together like a puzzle.  Sometimes I build them a big "castle" to sit inside.  Bear's never been into blocks the way I was as a kid and still am.  She never gravitates to them unless I pull them out first, even though they are in a prominent spot in our playroom.  I find it soothing to stack blocks and make symmetrical structures while feeling the grain of the wood in my hands. I keep hoping her brother will show a little more interest.

Come over and play at the Childhood 101 We Play link up

  2. You are right, building with blocks is so good for slowing down and centering oneself, or ramping up for zooming cars! There is just something so rewarding about constructing with blocks.

  3. Anna got a lot more into blocks and trains now when she is over 3 and has better motor skills. She was always frustrated when they would not stack the way she wanted. So keep trying - Bear might surprise you still.
