I highly recommend the World Map shower curtain from Target. At the time I bought it, I cringed a bit at paying $25 for it, but it has definitely been worth it. What makes it better than a wall map is that we can walk, run, jump, hop all over it (especially good for boy learners!).
First, we took our continents cube and rolled it and jumped to the continent on the die.
Later, we read names of countries on the maps and jumped onto them.
We then concentrated on just one continent and tried to learn the names of the countries within them (by of course jumping on them).
Then, we leaped from ocean to ocean.
Lots of learning.
Lots of jumping.
Lots of exercise.
Lots of fun!
really clever idea!
ReplyDeleteWe love our map. It has been a great tool to have on hand. We use ours w/ a continent cube too. We also sing an oceans song and jump to all the oceans:

This is a great idea! I looked online, and they seem to have dropped the price to $15? Shipping adds at least another $5, though, so I'm going to see if I can find it in our local store...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'll have to go to Target soon and get one for ourselves. My rambuncious boys will love this.
ReplyDeleteCool that you have all the space to spread the curtain out. I am so tempted but keep reminding myself of our limitations.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea!!thanks
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I have a little one who would adore this.
ReplyDeleteI have a large map that I received as a free gift to teachers way back. It's large enough to jump around in and it's laminated. And you can easily fold it back up when you're done. I do love the painted map in our neighborhood playground. K has often rode her bike "across the country". ;)
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea!
