Farmer's Market Day, by Shandra Tent, is told in rhyme and depicts a day at a Saturday market. The little girl in the story is excited to go and can't wait to choose a special thing to buy. We liked it because it reminded us of going to the market when we lived in Costa Rica. J-jo remembered buying pipa and not liking it very much. The illustrations, typical of Tiger Tales books, are delightful. They are bold, two page spreads and do a good job of showing the variety of fresh food found at a market and the exuberance of the little girl. This book would be a wonderful read before taking your child to the market, but I recommend it for the under fives.
What a Wonderful World, by Suzanne Chiew, is a beautiful book full of watercolor illustrations of the wonders a bear and his mama see in the world. I loved it because it evoked the feelings of glorious awe I have over God's creations when I am out in nature. It is a beautiful prayer of praise and the perfect book to read last at bedtime, as happened tonight. In total candor, J-jo thought it was not exciting enough and wanted another book, but I delighted in it's lyrical beauty.

I love Tiger Tales books and a little sad that Anna is growing out of age when she was really enjoying them. They are perfect for the crowd under 5 though!
