Preschool Wrap Up

Bear started school, but she was eager to continue school at home too. That made me very happy.  

 Both J-jo and Bear made Fall trees using Do a Dot markers.  (J-jo just wanted to touch the spongy tip though)

 Penmanship practice going around the letter in different colors each time.

 Counting practice in the teens.

 Building the teens on the hopscotch.

Adding to 10 using matching cards and the rods.

 Reading Mouse's First Halloween to me.

 Dictating a story (the line in parenthesis is what she told me when I commented that it was a very short story.)

 Writing a get well card for the violin teacher who underwent surgery.  I find that writing practice (and penmanship) is best done in context for meaningful purposes (like notes to friends and teachers).

 A game in which we pull out a number and then find objects in the room to represent that number.

 Playing outside a lot while it still feels like summer.

 Mixing blue and yellow paint to make green.

 Fall-themed cards and counters.

 Songs from 1+1+1=1.  Both Bear and J-jo love these.  I just noticed she has pumpkin songs today.  Off to go print them in a minute.

 We like to sing "Rock a bye J-jo" to J-jo and we tip him over gently at "down will come J-jo, cradle and all."

 Cutting and gluing to make a Japan culture booklet (found on Homeschool Share for Grandfather's Journey). The booklet is now in the Asia continent box.

 Sorting vertebrates and invertebrates.

 Reading command cards and then executing them.  This one says "get a pink cube."

 These red slips are actions (like roll, jump, sit).

 There's a church with a parking lot full of pumpkins so I took them just in case we don't get to the real pumpkin patch.
