I am so excited to be taking part in a postcard pay-it-forward exchange. Bear loves maps and already knows her continents. She has an amazing memory for places on the map and can point out Atlanta, San Francisco, Costa Rica and Quebec. Tonight we were reading a Little House picture book set in Wisconsin and we located the state on a map before reading the story. When I asked her at the end of the book, where was Wisconsin on the map, she just pointed right to it!
I am ceaselessly amazed at how much children absorb and can learn!
This postcard pay-it-forward initiated with Debbie at Children Grow Children Explore Children Learn who had a fun idea for a geography lesson. She is hosting a postcard exchange so that our children can receive mail and learn about different places in the country or around the world. Bear and I will definitely be placing stickers on the map to show where all our postcards came from. And I love Adriana's idea to find a book or website about each place so that we can learn even more.
If you would like to receive a postcard from us and are willing to send one to us in return, please leave a comment.
I am really interested in receiving postcards from each of the continents too :)
I would LOVE to do this!
ReplyDeleteMy Snow White LOVES the continents so much that I made her a continent cake for her birthday! You can see that post... http://mymontessorihomeblog.blogspot.com/search?q=cake

We would love to join you in this! I don't have a blog, but my little girl is showing interest in the world and maps as well as how exactly mail travels from one point to another - please include us in the fun! Such a wonderful way to teach geography to small kiddos :)

ReplyDeleteLove it! We'd be thrilled to swap postcards with you. I blogged about this great project idea at Mind Games. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to swap post cards with you! Do you mind if I put your link in my blog for other people to find you if they want to swap too? I already have a list going, I will probably make another post about it next week so hopefully more people will see it. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi my son(6) is currently using this as a geography lesson and we would love to have a postcard from you. If you would like to exchange with us here in Ontario, Canada just email to exchange information. Thank you.

I did this on my blog about a year ago and got some amazing postcards... but they still just sit on a shelf in our art room! What are you going to do with the cards once you get them? Besides talk about where they came from? I had grand ideas of making a book or something but we got a HUGE stack! I'd love LOVE to hear your ideas!
ReplyDeleteI would love to exchange postcards with you guys! We're in Wisconsin.
