I love singing (totally off-key) to my children. I make up songs and rhymes all the time. No wonder my two year old "gets" rhymes at such a young age.
I thought I'd share a little rhyme I made up for J-Jo. It's to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb.
J-jo had a little kiss, a little kiss, a little kiss,
J-jo had a little kiss
on his forehead.
On each word "kiss" place a kiss on baby's forehead. Repeat with other appropriate parts of body (nose, cheeks, chin, hair, hands, arms, legs, etc)
What's great about this rhyme:
- Baby associates the actual kiss with the word "kiss" and similarly associates the body part to its name.
- Lots of cuddly time with Mommy (or Daddy, or big sister), leading to lots of smiles and giggles.
Of course, we sing it in French too.
J-jo a un petit bisou, un petit bisou, un petit bisou
J-jo a un petit bisou
sur son front.
My toddler likes it too, though for her it's more about the cuddling, since she already knows all her body parts.
So cute, in English and French =)
ReplyDeleteVery Cute! I was just going to post on a rhyme to teach body parts today! I am going to try this one as well! If you don't mind, I will link to this post in my post.
