We used the Orchestra Lapbook made by Karen at Wisdom and Righteousness last year in our CC group. I am delighted that Karen has created another orchestra lapbook for Cycle 1 and that she has improved on last year's lapbook too!
This week by week curriculum guide is so detailed, allowing you to go much deeper in your teaching about the composers and orchestra (if you wish). I love how I now have a great collection of orchestra and composer resources all in one place. The Cycle 1 Orchestra Lapbook is open and go. All the information to impart to your students is written in red so you can easily find it. Each week there is a lesson and a corresponding lapbook piece. The lapbook can be done in class, led by a tutor, or at home if you are doing CC at home (or if your tutor isn't using it in class). There is a "Digging Deeper" part with links to extra worksheets, music, games and crafts that are all related to Cycle 1 composers or orchestra in general. This is the part I plan to do at home, since I already know my CC Community will be using the lapbook again this year. My favorite changes and additions to this Cycle's lapbook are the composer timeline and the composer notes. The composer timeline is so neat! You can find more information HERE.

ReplyDeleteThe thing I LOVE best about CC is the wonderful support system of homeschooling moms. The like mindedness to know God and make Him known. Also, tutoring the wonderful kids is an added bonus. Would love to use this for my Abecedarian class. lbc4jc@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about CC is that children learn many thing very easily and excitedly (quickly too). many thanks for your great postings. I got to know and learned about CC from your blog and started participating in CC since last week.

We love everything about CC- the subjects, songs, moms that I have bonded with. We have Karen's cycle 1 lapbook and would love this one too.
ReplyDeleteI’m a new CC mom and my boys just started Foundations this year. What I love most about Foundations is how various information important in life (like the Timeline of events, History snippets, Science and Math concepts, English and Latin basics) are introduced to my sons at a very young age. I myself am retaught and sometimes even taught for the first time. I don’t expect my children to master all the information at this point, but I have set that expectation upon myself simply to bless myself. Indeed, to acquire all the information in Foundations is a great blessing, whether you are the child, parent or tutor. I praise God Almighty for leading me and my family down this road.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about CC would have to be the timeline. I have learned so much through it and have gotten a "big picture" of history. Thanks for all you post here. I love your blog!

Thank you for the information on this. Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteThe memory songs are wonderful. And this lap book looks great!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about CC is the support and training that we receive. I love being able to educate my children from a Christian viewpoint with the encouragement of other like-minded families. =)

This lapbook looks great! My favorite thing about CC is it's versatility. I like that I can do as much with it as I like and that I can gear every topic towards my son's interests and learning styles. It's a perfect balance of giving great information but not giving specific lesson plans, allowing for flexibility. Love it
ReplyDeleteI love the community and the fact that the kids get to experience a "school -like" setting every week in the classroom with a tutor and classmates. My e-mail grismarc@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteWe do not use CC but we would certainly enjoy learning about the Orchestra. My daughter loves music so this would be of special interest to her.

I'm really sorry about any problems people are having to leave a comment. If you are having these problems, feel free to leave your comment as an email to thegirlwhopaintedtrees at gmail dot com and I will make sure to add your name to the entries, even if they don't show up as a comment here. I am getting these emails, and don't worry if you don't hear back from me. I just don't have the time right now to reply to each entry coming in via email. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWe love those songs, and the community, and the time to spend with other kids their age!
