I love open ended activities that allow for multiple solutions. I also love strategy games. This game is one such example of this. (I can not find the link for the hexagon grid. If someone finds it, please add it in the comments and I will happily edit the post).
Basically, each player takes a turn placing a pattern block tile unto the grid. The player who puts the last piece to finish the hexagon is the winner.
Bear also likes to play it as a single player game in which she places the pattern blocks onto the grid in different ways each time.
This game involves some higher order thinking. Critical thinking is such a vital tool to develop in our children.
Here is an example of how you can use questions to expand your child's higher-order thinking.
