It just seems like a lot of the books we have been reading lately have had leaf prints incorporated into the illustrations -- Turtle Splash and Scoot by Cathryn Falwell and Help! A Story of Friendship by Holly Keller.
I thought Bear and I might make leaf prints again.
Bear has never really been interested in making leaf prints; we've tried many times.
This time was teh same.
"No thank you Mommy. I want play dough."
Okay.
I , however, felt like painting, so I still got out everything and got to work. At some point, Bear joined me, but after making three leaf prints, announced, "Okay, I did three. I'm done Mommy! I don't want to do anymore."
But she came back and added a few butterfly prints on my mural using these cloth butterflies left to us by our renters. I was gluing the painted butterflies on, but she had the idea to use them to make prints.
Lovey! I love how she "dipped in and out" of your craft session too! :-)

Happy to hear you are making prints! She might enjoy printing some other found things she finds (that can survive paint, of course!)--corks, bubble wrap, keys, jar lids, etc.
ReplyDeleteHappy creativity, and happy reading!

So pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy son has a short attention span, too and joins in our projects for short periods. Your prints are pretty.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like that you continued with the project, and let her join in, when she was interested.
ReplyDeleteI often find that by playing with something myself i can capture the childs interest. some things just don't seem fun in theory but when you see it for real and someone enjoying it.... matter all together!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog!!
My 5 year old is the same way - changing his mind, coming in and out. I love how they come up with ideas we don't think of.
ReplyDeleteI love that you did it together. My son loves it when I help. The art came out so well.
ReplyDeleteThe end result came out beautiful! Love the butterflies that she added!
ReplyDeleteStopping by via stART!
I like your way to engage Bear in the activity - by starting on your own. I found that it works well here as well. We enjoyed Turtle Splash too, but not as much as other books by Falwell. Anna is not a big fan of nature books and thinks that counting books are for babies :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteNext week we are devoting our lessons to friendship. You'd be surprised how few Montessori posts there are about this subject. I saw that you referred to a book called The Story of Friendship. Do you recommend this book? Is there an activity that you think would go well with this book?
