I love how much Bear can help me in the kitchen now. We make zucchini carrot muffins almost every other week because they are an excellent way to sneak in some extra veggies.
Bear does almost everything and I just step in now and then. She loves to grate and feels so big when she gets to use the sharp knife (with vigilant supervision).
Lately Bear has wanted to wash everything. Here she is washing her snack, but she also likes to wash vegetables for dinner and often asks to wash the dishes. I sure hope she'll be asking to wash the dishes when she's a teenager.
Thanks for linking to Montessori Monday. I'd love the recipe for your carrot and zucchini muffins! And yes, wouldn't it be nice if all teenagers enjoyed washing dishes? ;)
ReplyDeleteImpressive. I think though that somewhere on the way to teenage years they do discover a dishwasher :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds yummy! How wonderful she can do so much already! Reminds me to utilize our daughter more in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI want the recipe, too. I love how you put all the pictures in one box. I need to learn how to do that.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I just said the same thing to my mom the other day. I said oh in ten years she'll be able to do everything and we can just sit back and relax. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'd also love your muffin recipe.
My mom always said that she didn't need a dishwasher because she had us to do it for her...lol.
ReplyDeleteMy little one (3yrs) loves helping me in the kitchen too. I don't quite trust her with a knife yet, but she gets to pour things for me. Can't wait for her to be able to reach the sink!
I, too, need the recipe for these yummy-looking muffins!
ReplyDeleteI have an award for you over on my blog!

Loving your blog!!
I like zucchini bread, and I love carrot cake, so those muffins sound delicious to me! It’s great that your daughter is so excited to help you out in the kitchen, especially since research shows that kids who help prepare meals are more likely to consider portions and learn important skills, such as math, following directions, and teamwork. And kids who eat meals together with their families do better in school and are less likely to be obese. That’s why I work for The Kids Cook Monday, a new program started by the Healthy Monday campaigns that encourages families to cook and eat meals together. To find out more about the program, and to get the recipe for Pineapple Carrot Muffins (a great way to get in both fruits and veggies!), check out our website at http://www.healthymonday.org/the-kids-cook-monday/
ReplyDeleteWe’re looking for families to get involved by cooking together each week and sharing their experiences on their blogs. If you’re interested in participating, please email me at TheKidsCookMonday@gmail.com. Thanks!
