Books Bear Enjoyed This Week

We always sign out so many books that half of them have to go on Bear's library card.  Bear is now choosing books as well so the pile grows and grows uncontrollably.  She just grabs any book off the shelf, but she has managed to find quite a few gems.  Here are a couple of her choices this week.

Finn Throws A Fit was one Bear and I could both relate to. She's a very good kid, but does have fits every now and then when things aren't done just so.  They usually happen when she's overtired or hungry.  In the story, Finn usually loves peaches, but this day he doesn't love them at all.  This day, Finn doesn't like anything at all.  He throws a fit so big that he cries an ocean, he screams an avalanche, and the fit goes on and on, but then finally it just stops, just like that and he wants his peaches again.

When Bear grabbed Chowder off the stacks, I was a little wary as it really didn't seem like a book either of us would like.  Nevertheless it was added to our tower of books and we both loved it.  This is the story of a dog who just doesn't fit in.  The illustrations are funny and so is this unusual dog who likes to be carried for walks and use the toilet.  He likes people toys and the other dogs just think he's weird.  Will he finally make some friends?  I like how the story subtly lets you know it's okay to be you.

  2. I'm glad we don't have a limit on books at the library, we usually have 60+ books to check out at a time.

  3. Great picks! I think we'd enjoy both of those, and like you, I'm not sure I would have picked out Chowder, myself - but it sounds like fun!

  4. JC picks out entirely different books than I do but her choices have been more fun to read! Go figure.

  5. Great choices and thank you for joining WMCIR. Both books are new to me. Anna likes to choose her own books, and I hear that she finally made my husband get his own library card, so she could get some new books to read while I am away :)

  6. My Finn LOVES Finn Throws a Fit, and not just because it uses his name. This story always goes over well at our house. When my Finn does throw a fit, I start saying lines from the book, and he asks for "peaches now? please?" So cute!
