Our classroom is ever-evolving. This is how it looks right now. We schooled downstairs most of the summer as it is cooler there, so it was exciting to go "back to school" upstairs two weeks ago.
View from the door. The stacked pieces on the chest of drawers, against which J-jo is leaning, are our Montessori maps. J-jo's "workboxes" are on the bookshelf on the left. He is expected to complete 3 choices from the six items on the middle and bottom shelf. I am working toward him completing all 6 items. Most are things he has to do with me. A closer look at this set-up below. It has evolved some since I took the picture as I found three trays to fit the bottom shelf. The empty spots are the ones J-jo chose to complete that day:) His favorite thing is "lectricity" (the Snap Circuits
set that is on the floor). The top shelf is for math manipulatives we use often.

This shelf is directly to the left of the shelf with J-jo's boxes. It houses some Montessori materials and language materials (top and bottom shelves).
Behind the door into the room is a wall that fits this Expedit perfectly. We maximized wall space by using the back of the door for the calendar. I set up Bear's workboxes here. We have struggled with workboxes, but this system is working great now. I am using paper sorters from Ikea. She has 8 things to complete per day, not including Bible and memory work.

ReplyDeleteLove all your organization. Kids are going to love learning there. One idea..if you take the words by the calendar and put them on colored balloons or other fun shape, and put them above or below calender; the kids will be more drawn to them and thus see them more.
