Tiger Tales Books once again blessed us with a box of books to review! There are some gems in the box, as always.
I was happy to see a book called One Sunny Day. It is a padded board book that belongs to the same series as One Snowy Day and One Rainy Day
. While One Snowy Day is a counting book and One Rainy Day is a color book, One Sunny Day is a shape book. It's the story of a bear listing the things he loves about a sunny day. "One sunny day means...star sunglasses, a rectangle wagon..." and the list goes on. These are great toddler books. J-jo, though quickly approaching the preschooler label, still enjoys them.
The next book we looked at is Scary Mary
by Paula Bowles. At first, Bear was reluctant for me to read it because of the title, but it turned out to be a good read about how your attitude affects how others view you and that if you keep chasing others away with your attitude, eventually they will stop trying. In this story, a hen named Mary refuses the other barnyard animals' invitations to play by chasing them away. "She squawked and clucked and crowed, and flapped her wings in a terrific tantrum...until she was completely alone." The watercolor illustrations are wonderfully detailed and the hen's scary faces are more amusing than scary. Both kids ended up loving this book.
There were many more books and I'll be reviewing them here slowly over the next couple of months.
Tiger Tales are wonderful. Anna really liked new Giles Andreas book.
