I was walking through Publix and saw the Parmesan shaker and finally got it for Bear to thread beads onto pipecleaners. She loves this work and adds some beads every morning.
Inspired by Childhood 101, I set up a button sewing work for her. A bit challenging, but just enough challenge to motivate her to keep trying. We'd already done the sewing-on-shelf-liner last year and she was thrilled to be able to "really sew".
I thought that post on Childhood 101 was awesome. I have to find embroidery hoops somewhere one of these days and let Anna try buttons sewing too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea for building skills.
ReplyDeleteWe love embroidery hoops. Alex has been fascinated since she read about it in the American Girl Felicity book, about how girls by age 5 would be expected to create an entire and usually complicated embroidery design.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. Your photos are always so clear! I need a photography class, I think ;) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSewing buttons! Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the bead activity and that you are using applesauce containers to hold the beads too! Good idea! Kerri
ReplyDelete@Elle Belles Bows - I use those applesauce containers for everything! They are especially handy for painting projects. Or as extra little snack bowls when playgroup comes over (of course the painting ones are kept separate from the food ones!)
