Preschool Wrap Up
Art:
Bear drew an angel picture (with verbal directions from Mom) and then painted it.
Math:
Worked with teen numbers with the number cards and bead bars.
More teens work. Bear works with the teen board at school so I got her to present it to me the way her teacher does it. She did. Then she wanted to play a game in which we take turns choosing a set of beads to hide – that’s why these are out of order in the photo.
100 board
Adding presents (2+3 in the photo)
Addition board – she chooses this a lot at school apparently.
Crafts:
Making snowflake ornaments.
Decorating gingerbread men (like last year but much more sophisticated).I cut the mittens and scarf out of felt for her.
Using a sticker set my mom sent Bear.
Reading:
Bear is reading a lot of books independently now but only if someone sits next to her to listen. I love to hear her read to J-jo. I use the Houghton Mifflin site recommended by Mouse Grows Mouse Learns to find books that might interest her at the right reading level. It’s been a great tool. Bear is reading the “on level” books for grade one. I still credit Reading Eggs with boosting her confidence and stamina in reading.
I’ve been planning some fun units for the new year that I can’t wait to share.
Linked up to the Preschool Corner, Montessori Monday, and Math Mondays.
Bear is doing awesome! I am impressed that she can already read Grade 1 books. I wish sometimes Anna went to Montessori school and had access to all these great manipulatives.
