over and over at Bear’s request, I figured it would be foolish to pass up the opportunity to do a Monet artist study, seeing how interested she was in the
impressionist art.
impressionist art.
Using our Christmas tree as inspiration, we dabbed and daubed as the painters in Katie Meets the Impressionists.
She had a beautiful shape of a tree here, but decided to do a super-zoomed in tree (her words) as you will see in the photo of the finished painting.

Photographed with the inspiration tree.
I didn’t share any actual artist biographical information with her this time since it was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment project.

Very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteWe like the Touch the Art books, but haven't done anything to link up. If you want to, you can read some thoughts here. http://livelearnlove226.blogspot.com/2010/11/touch-art-classics.html
We love "Katie Meets the Impressionists", and great extension activity!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great idea and she is quite an artist! I love her tree. I never think of winter scenes in connection with Monet, but it works perfectly.
ReplyDeleteBoth projects turned out beautifully! We tried to read many books about artists including some of James Mayhew, but somehow daughter was never really inspired and not even particularly interested in the books. I think she considers "adult art" beyond her natural abilities, and I guess I am not exactly inspirational since I cannot draw or paint myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat impressionist tree! I have so many art books...I need to read some of them to JC.
ReplyDeleteVery nice art work. I am going to have to check these books out. I see Bear is getting a lot out of them. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love your tree. It is a great representaton of Monet like work.
