It's so hard to find time to do every thing we want to do. Here's what we touched on. I have so much more written in my plan book that I hoped I would present.
Bear sometimes invents her own activities.
Cutting paper using Mommy's cutter.
Sensorial:
Triangle drawer geometric cabinet - learning names such as right angled isosceles triangle...
Triangle box - taking different kinds of triangle to make a large equilateral triangle
Math:
making ten with number rods
finding number rods that are one larger, one smaller - but from memory (she looks at the rod in my hand, then walks across the room to find the rod I asked for)
counting to 100
She is earning pennies for doing her violin exercises properly. Every time she has five pennies we trade for a nickel. When she earns another five, we trade the nickel and pennies in for a dime. I figure by the end of the year doing this, she will be an expert at counting coins. (And will have learned about saving and spending her earnings.)
Language:
Memory with Care Bear cards
Reading Elephant and Piggie books and Cat the Cat books - we love Mo Willems
Writing belated thank you cards
Social Studies:
Reading aloud Little House on the Prairie and learning the States through which Laura traveled in the wagon.
Science:
learning the characteristics that all living things have in common.
doing a virtual living / nonliving sort here
Art:
Emily Carr (I know, I posted about Wassily Kandinsky, but I am posting previous weeks)
Music:
The Carnival of the Animals - dancing to, recognizing instruments and animals in the pieces

The feeling of not being able to do everything is well familiar here, but I think that Bear is doing fantastic considering how young she is. Her handwriting is pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bear has many of the same interests as JC! I looked everywhere for the post (hers and mine) but can't find it anywhere. She doesn't seem to have a search option or I can't find it for some reason. All it is is taking five pennies or pebbles and hiding part of it under a cut and asking your child to guess how many are hidden. We tried 10 at first but it was too hard. 5 was just right.
ReplyDeleteI love all the triangle work!
Thanks JL! Looking forward to playing that with Bear in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed by her handwriting too! Looks like a great week, and yes...I always have more things planned than we get to as well! Thanks for linking to Montessori Monday. :)
