Today we skip counted by twos. We pulled out all the shoes in Bear's closet - minus the running shoes that went AWOL - and counted them. Then I announced I had a faster way of counting them and I counted them by twos.
I pulled out a large sheet of paper (courtesy of Ikea's self packing area as you leave the store - every time we go to Ikea, I take a few sheets of that paper home with us - it's great for art) and asked Bear to place the shoes in pairs on the paper. We counted by 2s again as she did this. Then I traced the shoes for her, until she took over!
We were supposed to paint the traced shoes and decorate them with stickers, but it didn't happen today. So the art part went out the window :-P
This idea came from here.
I've never seen those sheets there, but I am so getting them next time.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, I've done it for skip counting by fives and tracing hands, but hadn't thought of shoes.
Thanks for submitting all of your great count by activities to ABC. We appreciate you and hope it isn't "your last submission" as promised;)
