I've been so excited to see all the flowers. The pear and cherry blossoms look so beautiful, never mind that we are all suffering allergies right now. The magnolias are in bloom, the camelias are just ending, the daffodils and the tulips have opened. We've been planting seeds and other flowers in the backyard too. It just made sense to name all the flowers I knew as we walked in the neighborhood. One of the things that stands out to me constantly about the Montessori method is that she believed that everything should be called by its proper name; in other words, call a daffodil a daffodil and not just a flower.
We play "I Spy" while we walk. I call out, "I spy a magnolia." Bear will point to it. "I spy cherry blossoms. I spy a daffodil." You get the idea.
So I made her some three part cards that I am sharing with you below. Enjoy. :)
