As part of our Itty Bitty Bookworm themed learning we are reading Corduroy, so I've tried to come up with a few bear related games to play. I cut out a whole bunch of different sized fish in orange and red felt, drew this game board (actually I had drawn it ages ago but we hadn't used it yet). pulled out a polar bear from a Duplo set and dug out two dice from the manipulatives box. The bear starts on the number 1 square. You roll both dice and count the dots, then move your polar bear to the correct square to eat the fish.
This is an easy game for counting and number recognition.
We used two dice to practice number recognition of "bigger" numbers (i.e. bigger than 6).
Great idea! So cute that it ties in with the books.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! We are doing peguins next week so we may have the penguins eat the fish.
ReplyDeleteVery cute fun filled learn to learn! I love it!

Ohhh, this is SO cute! I'm going to have to recreate this for Maddie (who is VERY interested in animals that eat fish, for some odd reason!).
ReplyDeleteI love all of these games you make! I feel so slack. My son loves games, and I know he would love these and learn so much from them. One of these days I will follow suit and make him some. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very creative - this is such a fun idea for younger kids. Anna finally got completely clear on her 1-12 numbers playing with her MiniLuc. She used to always confuse 6, 8 and 9.
