Tot School

Here is some of what we did this week.
Sorry that it isn't in any particular order.

  1. art - Working at another makeshift "easel."  I taped paper to a window in our studio and she painted.  I figured it was washable paint and if she got some on the walls I would be able to wash it off.  Unbelievably, none got on the walls, only a bit on the window and it washed off.
  2. art - Using a roller on the makeshift easel.
  3. math - Size sorting citrus fruit found on our property.
  4. Waiting for the bread to bake.
  5. math - Puzzles.
  6. fine motor skills - Using tweezers to pick up buttons.
  7. fine motor skills - Using the salt tray to draw.
  8. practical life - Sweeping dry pasta into a square taped to the floor.
  9. pre-reading - starting to sound out using a flip book version of the spinny speller.

  1. nature - Finding ant trails.
  2. That led to these ant towers.
  3. pretend - Playing with Baby Bear.
  4. fine motor skills - Using tongs to transfer felt strawberries (lasted about 5 seconds).
  5. prereading/prewriting  - Building words with the clothespins.
  6. Tracing practice from an activity book from Mimi (grandma).
  7. fine motor skills - Playdough.
  8. fine motor/prewriting - Dot to Dot - I made a grid of dots (I just freehanded them because my printer is broken) and she tried to connect dots.  She enjoyed this, but isn't very good at it yet.  Didn't quite understand about stopping at each dot.
  9. prewriting - Building with our How to Build an A lower case set that I made.  I kind of freehanded it by drawing a lower case "a" on some white foam and then trying to figure out what I needed to make all the letters.  Some letters still need tweaking and when I have worked it all out, I will post about it in detail.

  1. Do a Dot math.
  2. Connecting objects with a line (letters, numbers, shapes).
  3. Singing songs to Baby Boy (who finally has a nickname and will be known as J-Jo from now on).  In this picture she is singing Eensy Weensy Spider which she will only sing in French and never in English, even though I almost only sing it in English!
  4. Loving J-Jo.
  5. Sorting cutlery.  I took out half of the cutlery and had her place it in the right spots.
  6. Placing animals on the continent puzzle.
  7. An open and close activity.  It's too easy; I need to find more challenging containers.  But she still enjoys finding the surprises inside.
  8. Continent map puzzle.
  9. Baking.  We did lots of baking this week.

  1. Love the homemade spinny speller and the fact that you have citrus fruits on your property that you can sort. How cool!
