,One of my challenges is finding French rhymes to sing to my children.
I want to sing them the cute English rhymes we have, but translating them into French just doens't work right with rhythm or rhyme. Even finding songs for learning is difficult.
So of course,
I make up my own.
Here is my French version of Round and Round the Garden.
Tout autour de l'etang
saute la petite grenouille.
Un pas, deux pas,
et puis une petite chatouille.
For those of you who don't speak French, sorry.
For those of you who do, hope this is useful.
It's the kind of stuff I have been looking for and can't find.
I admit I used dictionary.com to translate. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sweet that you make up French versions of nursery rhymes.
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of fun ideas in your Tot School post. Creating stories is one of our favourite things to do at the moment, it usually involves us having a giggle. Imagine looking back in years to come at the wonderful stories Bear made up as a little girl - you will both get so much joy from this.
I really like Bear's sunset that she painted with her water colours. Open ended art can lead to such beautiful creations.
We live in a bilingual province (New Brunswick, Canada), and the province has a bilingual early language program called Parle-Moi.
ReplyDeleteWe received a great (free) CD from the program called "Chantons ensemble/Let's Sing Together". It has 43 rhymes and songs sung by children, and 23 are in French. It doesn't appear to be available for sale, but the small songbooks that accompany the CD are online as PDFs (links below). It doesn't have as many as on the CD, though. If you're interested, email me and I can send you a copy of the CD. :)
