The Rhyming Box

Here is a game Bear and I play.

Gather some objects around your house and place them on a tray or shallow box.  The child needs to see all the objects.
Next say the name of each object, emphasizing the ending sound, pointing to each object as you name it.
Explain to your child that you are going to play a rhyming game and that their challenge is to find the object on the tray that rhymes with the word you are going to say.
Choose and object and think of a rhyme for it.
For example, if I choose "sock," the rhyming word I come up with might be clocks.
Say that word.
Your child should hand you the socks.

  1. Great activity! D loves rhyming activities. I just won a CD from Tati blog that we love. It is full of rhyming songs in Spanish. If you are interested, let me know.
