The following may not so helpful for those of you looking for Christmas/Holiday gift ideas, but it will certainly be entertaining.
When Adriana asked if I would be interested in participating in her MckLinky, I said yes right away.
But then the more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe I shouldn't have agreed so readily.

You see, Bear's favorite toys are:
- her cardboard house, made of two boxes we picked up at the checkout of Price Smart (like a Costco), taped together halphazardly, and decorated by yours truly and Bear.
- the felt food I have made her.
- her kitchen, which is a plastic model I would never recommend to anyone (though I am extremely grateful that it was given to us!).
- a blanket that she scrunches up and uses as her baby doll, traipsing it everywhere, imitating everything I do with Baby Boy.
- her florist marbles that she uses as "gasoline" for her "car" - a playskool walker that converts into a little ride on car - (and don't worry, she never puts the marbles in her mouth!)
Any of you daring enough to wrap up a cardboard box for your kids for Christmas?
I didn't think so.

I LOVE IT! You are so right! D played with three empty paper towel rolls for TWO hours the other day and last Christmas M spent the whole day playing with the ribbon. You are welcome to link it up. Hmmm, wrap up a cardboard box.... you may be on to something!
ReplyDeleteIt's true - the best toys are not toys :) I have no ideas for Christmas yet - we have a birthday coming up, so I put all my wishes out there already :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny because last year we actually thought about putting a big cardboard box under the tree. My kids had spent a few months playing with one we had from a play kitchen we bought well before Christmas. And they just loved playing in it so much but it fell apart. So we seriously did consider it! It's amazing how they find a way to enjoy playing with just about anything!
ReplyDeleteI actually did wrap up part of a cardboard box for Emma's Christmas present last year and would happily do so again given the right box...
ReplyDeleteI love that she uses a blanket as her baby doll!
my two kids have played with mardi gras beads for about FIVE years every single time they go to my mil's house! they've been soup, muffins, everything! even necklaces once in a while!
ReplyDeleteHA! I LOVE this list. I did this post a while ago: http://superheroesandprincesses.blogspot.com/2009/08/best-toys-were-never-meant-to-be-toys.html
