Tot School

Tot School
-Bear is 25 months-

Alphabet and Literacy:

We started a Great Sort.
Bear matched animal magnets to beginning consonant sound pipe cleaner letters.
She followed a recipe in her play kitchen. She loves to make cake.

Numbers and Other Math Concepts
:

Bear placed the correct amount of "apples" on the tree. Then we sang and acted out the song "Farmer John had 5 green apples" except we sang "Farmer Bear had ten red apples."
Bear enjoyed feeding her ants. You can read more about this game here.Bear built towers while counting the blocks. We used these blocks to learn the words and concept of cylinder and cube.
We also did an activity using prepositional words "put the cube on the cylinder," "put the cylinder on the cube," "put the cube on another cube."
We played a color matching game.

Geography and Culture:

Bear matched animals to continents on her continent map. We also sorted zoo animals from farm animals using her Little People animals (she really wasn't into sorting the animals, but liked putting the animals on the map).

Art:

We painted a few times this week using our new spill proof cups.

Fine Motor Skills

Bear helped me transfer tiny craft supplies to an old spice rack. She loved transferring the tiny objects (beads, buttons, etc) to the new jars and putting the jars into the slots. She does this with the Pringles containers at the checkout at the grocery store too!

Cutting. She loves magazines and I came up with this trick to help her.

Glue

Bear also continued working on buttoning. She started with a zipper dressing frame this week too, as well as folding washcloths.

  2. Thats a good idea to put the pictures on a bigger sheet of paper for her to cut out! I might try that with Pufferfish... she is dying to try scissors!

  9. You have definitely got a smart little girl on your hands! I love the recipe idea for the play kitchen. My Littlest Apple loves to pretend to bake cookies and muffins, so I'm definitely going to try this idea! Thanks again for sharing your scissor tricks....we're going to be using that tip soon at our house!
