Seasons in Costa Rica

Autumn's glorious change of colors does not happen here in Costa Rica.
There are
no pumpkins,
no
trick-or-treating,
no piles of leaves to jump in.

No, in Costa Rica, we do not have spring, summer, fall or winter.
We have two seasons.
Rainy
and
Dry

And right now is the rainy season!

Fortunately it doesn't rain non stop during the rainy season.
The mornings are full of warm sunshine.
Most of the time.

(Halloween is a tiny section of the department store selling costumes for parties. There are no great sacks of candy sold anywhere.)

See here for last week's post on Costa Rica.

  1. I love your post on Costa Rica! Here in Texas we usually do not have a rainy season, but as I look outside this morning, I am not so sure anymore. We are so tired of being trapped inside! Are you planning on celebrating Halloween with Bear as a family? Day of the Dead is not celebrated much in Texas but we still do a little so that the boys are aware of it, as it is a very important Mexican tradition.

  2. Goodness, it does look very rainy! I love rain, but I'm not sure how I would feel about it every day! Love this post!

  3. I was thinking of asking you if they celebrate Halloween or some version of it in Costa Rica. We are a Mexican-American family so we are aware of the Mexican Day of the Dead but we usually just stick with the American Halloween celebration.

  4. LOL on Costa Rican seasons. We didn't celebrate Halloween either where I grew up (neither in Germany where my husband is from), so we are not going all out for this holiday. Still Anna expects to go trick-or-treating based on all the books we've read up to date :)
