This one is the story of a little girl who is trying to understand the special days that come throughout the year. "What comes next?" she keeps asking her mother after a special day passes. As all of the Charlotte Zolotow books we love, this one is a sweet, nostalgic book with peaceful illustrations.
In this one, a little girl lives with her mother. They don't have much food. One day a lady gives the little girl a magic pot that promises porridge that never runs out, but the lady warns her never forget the words to stop the little pot from making porridge. It's not my favorite book, but apparently Bear loves it.
Some other books we liked were Llama Llama Red Pajama
J-jo's favorite was Doggies
by Sandra Boynton. He loves dogs in books, but doesn't like the real thing.
And I liked the book A Good Day
by Kevin Henkes. It starts out the animals are having a bad day, but then they see the other side of the coin and realize it's a good day after all.

Over and Over sounds like a great read! I'm adding that to our library wish list. We LOVED A Good Day and all of the Llama books. We read Llama Llama Misses Mama at bedtime tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining WMCIR! We loved Llama books here too, and I have to look for Over and Over - illustrations look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe really need to read some Llama Llama books - I keep hearing about them from different blogs!
ReplyDeleteover and over looks wonderful - just what we need! We like Doggies too (the book but not the real ones!)
ReplyDeleteER loves those Llama Llama books and the Doggies book was one she used to carry around back in NM when she was less than a year old. She really loved puppies then! We half expected her first word to be puppy.
