Artists and Art Week 1 - Wassily Kandisky Part 2

After our first painting in the style of Wassily Kandinsky we attempted a second one in the style of the Color Study also painted by Kandinsky.
Bear was not really in a painting mood this day and was not interested in painting all 4 quadrants of the paper.  I cut the two quadrants she painted apart. This is the result.  Not quite Kandinsky's bright vibrant colors.
We talked about painting lines, thick broad lines versus thin ones.  We talked about light hues versus dark ones and how colors ran together and mixed and just made brown.

If you've done any art with your child this week based on an artist or illustration style, or taught some of the elements and principles of art, please join the Linky.  Please remember to link back or grab the button on the side bar.

  2. I think that Bear did reasonably well for a 3 year old. I will link up if we ever have any interest in art going here too.

  3. fun! A friend just emailed me to recommend Kandinsky when she saw our post too. (She was a bit critical of my little one's choice to copy deKooning, due to his misogynistic tendencies. lol).

  6. I'm so glad you started this link! I have limited computer access this week but maybe I'll dig around for an old post if I can link it up. Bear's choice of colors are wonderful and the wave like lines provide a soothing experience. Children make the best artists!
