Here's a way we've used to practice number recognition from 10 to 20 while getting some exercise as well.
There are many ways you could use this hopscotch grid (made of painter's tape on our playroom floor).
One simple thing we do is to just call out the numbers as we jump the grid.
A second way we play is that one of us calls out a number and the other has to jump onto it.
A fun thing to do might be to collect the number of items to house in each square of the grid, but we haven't tried this yet.

Cute! Numbers 11-20 needs a lot of reinforcement and this is a great way to get more practice! Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE this activity at our house! I've been using it with letter recognition too, but I think it's time to switch back to numbers. I've been thinking about sewing/crafting/purchasing a hopscotch mat so I don't have to re-tape or re-draw it. Have you seen those?
ReplyDelete@ Cara: My mom just got us a foam set for hopscotch and I think I might find a way to velcro felt rectangles with other umbers or letters to the foam part. We'll see if it works.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your play space, and what a great idea to play hopscotch with the numbers that need a little reinforcing!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of doing different numbers for hopscotch. That's a great idea, and so simple I'm thinking why didn't I think of that?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for learning larger numbers! I think it would be fun for couting by 2,5, and 10 as well. Just need to change numbers to fit learning concept.

ReplyDeletewow this is so cool :) ! I've always been meaning to try out a homemade indoor hopscotch, this is great :D
ReplyDeleteI just thought of a variation....how about hop/skip/jumping to a number and touching various body parts the number of times it says?
