A Day in the Life

We have "school" Monday, Wednesday, Friday. However, sometimes I can sneak a lesson or two into another day. So far a typical "school" day looks like this:
Breakfast - maybe reading of current novel if baby allows.
Calendar - sing all the months, days of the weeks, the day today, and counting songs. Go over Bible verse (from 1+1+1=1) of the week. Read a Bible story. Read a picture book. J-jo is usually with us for this part of the school morning.
Montessori work - I do a lesson presentation or two. Bear chooses from the shelves. If she seems to not be choosing, I offer to present her another lesson or to work with her on a work she already knows. Lately though she shuns all practical life tray work. Consequently our day also has...
Kitchen time - preparation of a snack or a recipe to eat later. This allows Bear to spoon items, stir things, pour things, and learn practical skills in a meaningful context. She eats snack at this time.
Maybe one or two more Montessori choices with J-jo in the room doing his teeny tiny tot school activities.
Lunch
Free play the rest of the day.

It's interesting to have a glimpse in someone's "day in life". It looks like you have a good routine and hopefully Bear will get into her violin practice soon.
Oh, to be as organized as you! Fantastic work you are doing with your child -- and following while still getting Montessori in (unlike my day yesterday!)

Thanks for the post! I am working on our schedule for the fall and I really needed some guidance. How is the language learning going? I am still struggling with incorporating French in to our routine.
Little Bird is simillar with practical work, so we find it all in real life activities like you o - best way to learn really. (: Sounds like you guys have a great routine. (:
Robbie has shunned practical life for quite a while, too. Since I am very "Montessori Ignorant", that was really what passed for Montessori in our home. Like Bear, he does those things in his everyday life.
We have yet to incorporate calendar time yet. I'd like to do that this year.
I'm trying to find ideas for cheap (or free!) activity trays that will interest a very high spirited boy (i.e.: wiggly, rambunctious & wild boy who only stops talking while he's sleeping... no... wait... he actually talks in his sleep).
