We Play - In The Rain

We have had a few afternoons of rain and instead of staying indoors, we took advantage of the cooler air to play outside. The large umbrella made the perfect playhouse and the sidewalk chalk became like creamy paint on the wet cement.
Then we scrambled inside to get the water color pencils and we took played "follow the leader". Bear drew something, then I copied her somewhere else on the page. It was loads of fun.
The plan was to take the drawing out in the rain and see what happened, but the rain stopped.

I love the 'follow the leader' drawing idea. That could be so much fun on a big piece of paper for a party game :)

I love the follow the leader drawing idea ... we need some quiet activities for tomorrow as we nurse my sick nephew, and I think this might be included! :)
I remember playing in the rain like this as a kid! My kids love playing in the rain, but they opt out of the umbrella and get soaked to the core! We've had a lot of lightning lately, and they aren't happy with my decision to not let them play in thunderstorms!

Loving the use of the umbrella as a play house. I really think that follow the leader is an awesome idea, so unique.
I like the umbrella playhouse and drawing on a wet pavement. It's neat that you get outside even in the rainy weather.
That giant umbrella is great! I'd be curious about watercolor pencils in the rain too - too bad it stopped. Maybe you could experiment with a mister bottle?
