Montessori Monday

I hadn't had the time to set up trays in a while so Bear particularly enjoyed herself this week.

Using her new chopsticks to pick up ladybugs (buttons from WM) and placing them on leaves.

Later this became a math activity, as she had to turn over a number card and place the correct number of ladybugs on the leaf.

Here she used her fingers to transfer the ladybugs to the bath mat shape.

Then it was the marbles to transfer to the mat.

She poured rice.

And transferred eggs with the tongs.

Then Bear made up her own tray work.  hehe.

After I realized she still couldn't cut a circle, I set up some practice strips for her.  By the end of a few strips, she could cut a circle.  I started her on wavy lines and then she progressed to half circles and then full circles.

She doesn't often choose the cylinders, but this day she did and she worked on them a long time. 

But what kept her busy for the longest time, was putting the colored circles away in the boxes and then finding the correct cylinder to place on top of each circle.

Stereognostic bag - an array of geometric solids.  Bear tells me what the solid is before pulling it out.  Or I call one out for her and she finds it.

Some work making ten "trains" with the cuisinaire rods.

She always lines up her cylinder blocks like this.  Refuses to put them in the traditional formation.  It's a lot easier for her to reach everything this way, so I've allowed her to continue in this way.

Sweeping.  She pours the rice, sweeps it up, and dumps it in the "trash"container.  The rice is then poured back into the pitcher.

I bought a magnet wand at The School Box and she had fun with the magnetic and non magnetic sort.  We were both surprised at some of the things that ended up not being magnetic.
