First we talked about Hans Hofmann, using the notes from this post. We looked at his art and talked about it a bit.
We did a project similar to this, but instead of strips of contact paper I cut squares and rectangles for her.
First she painted the whole paper yellow. Then stuck her “stickers” where she wanted. Next was orange, then stickers, then red and stickers, and finally blue. I wanted her to add some green too, but she didn’t care to. We had to wait in between each coat of paint and I think she got tired of the project and just wanted to paint.
Bear found it a bit I found it a bit tedious to watch Bear fill the whole paper, because eventually she got bored of it and was taking her sweet little time with super tiny brushstrokes, and feeling a little stressed and OCD, I ended up taking over for the last layer of paint, something I am NOT proud of. I took the fun out of this project for her, so I apologized and let her have her paints, new paper, and freedom to do what she wanted. She painted the picture beneath and one more.
