If you lived in Costa Rica, you would most likely find yourself at one of the many feria, or outdoor markets, on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
It's a crazy, hectic, busy place,
but I love it.
Here are some fruits we enjoy buying and eating.
sapote
super sweet flavor - we use it in our daily spinach smoothies
mamones
like jelly inside
nispero
like a sour sweet apricot
papaya and mango
Asian Cucumber
supposedly it is bitter
I didn't buy one, but it's on my list of things to try.
I asked the vendor if I could take a picture; I'd never seen anything like it before.
And no feria day is complete without stopping to drink a fresh pipa
That is so cool! I'm looking forward to all of your Costa Rica posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing! I am looking forward to seeing all of your Costa Rica post as well (and sharing them with D.) What a wonderful place for your daughter to grow up. Do you plan to stay in Costa Rica? We have several ethnic grocery stores where we live so I will look for some of these.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Mamones means something totally different in Mexico. It made me giggle a little. :)
Thanks for giving us a look at costa rica. This should be really fun!
ReplyDeleteThose fruits look so exotic. I am looking forward to more Costa Rica posts from you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, and I loved that last picture of Bear drinking a fresh pipa!
