Bear loves to act out her favorite nursery rhymes. Her two favorite are "Jack be Nimble" ( we use a large can as the candle and she jumps over it) and "Jack and Jill" (she goes up the slide for the hill, then down the slide for the fall). It's an easy way to incorporate language and gross motor development.
Another great thing to do with nursery rhymes is to personalize them. I insert my children's names into nursery rhymes such as "Mary had a little lamb." I've come up with some creative ways to make the rhymes work. Bear loves this and I'm sure Baby Boy will love it too.
Hello! I just wanted to say that I enjoy your blog. I love nursery rhymes and sharing them with my daughter. We have little finger puppets to act them out. If you have a bucket and a rope lying around, you could show her how Jack and Jill fetched a pail of water while demonstrating a simple pulley system. I also like how you included her your daughter's age on the post, I always wonder the ages of the kids when I read blogs. I am trying to do that on my blog I just started.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks for sharing! Meghan will love jumping a can!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of nursery rhymes, but Anna likes to play out any story we read lately. It's so much fun to watch them try and recreate the story.
